Efecto de diferentes sustratos, contenedores y ambientes sobre el crecimiento y calidad de plantines de Neltuma caldenia

Abstract

El bosque de caldén se ubica en la región centro de Argentina y su principal actividad económica es la ganadería bovina, donde el pastoreo continuo conduce a una acumulación de material herbáceo senescente que aumentan el riesgo de incendios, principal causa de degradación del bosque. Para su restauración y/o expansión de la superficie boscosa, es crucial desarrollar métodos de propagación eficientes en vivero. El siguiente trabajo tuvo por objetivo evaluar la influencia de dos sustratos (suelo/arena/lombricompuesto y turba/perlita/lombricompuesto), dos tamaños de envases (15×6 y 25×7 cm) y dos ambientes (vivero e invernadero) sobre el crecimiento y calidad de plantín de Neltuma caldenia. Se registró diámetro a la altura de cuello, altura total, relación entre parte aérea y radical, índice de esbeltez e Índice de Dickson. En esta experiencia la mejor combinación en cuanto a parámetros de crecimiento y calidad del plantín fue sustrato suelo/arena/lombricompuesto, empleando un contenedor profundo y en cancha de cría. Estos resultados son alentadores ya que, con materiales de bajo costo y una baja infraestructura de vivero, es factible lograr plantines de N. caldenia de calidad.

The Caldén forest is located in the central region of Argentina and its main economic activity is cattle ranching, where continuous grazing leads to an accumulation of senescent herbaceous material that increases the risk of fires, the main cause of forest degradation. For its restoration and/or expansion of the forest surface, it is crucial to develop efficient propagation methods in the nursery. The following work aimed to evaluate the influence of two substrates (soil/sand/vermicompost and peat/perlite/vermicompost), two container sizes (15×6 and 25×7 cm) and two environments (nursery and greenhouse) on the growth and seedling quality of Neltuma caldenia. Diameter at neck height, total height, relationship between aerial part and root, slenderness index and Dickson Index were recorded. In this experience, the best combination in terms of growth parameters and quality of the seedling was soil/sand/vermicompost substrate, using a deep container and in a breeding field. These results are encouraging since, with low-cost materials and low nursery infrastructure, it is feasible to achieve quality N. caldenia seedlings.
