Músicos del Alto Uruguay : la trayectoria de los dueños de banda hacia fines del siglo XX

Abstract

En el presente artículo proponemos un abordaje de las trayectorias y prácticas de los músicos rurales de un municipio del Alto Uruguay, en un período que comprende el último tercio del siglo XX y la primera década del siglo XXI. Sin descuidar los aspectos contextuales que han condicionado el desarrollo de estos músicos, intentamos describir la articulación entre sus prácticas musicales y económicas, recurriendo para ello a la figura del dueño de banda, término que hace referencia a los líderes de los conjuntos musicales que tocan en bailes y fiestas. La metodología empleada en esta producción es de índole cualitativa, siendo las entrevistas abiertas y semi-estructuradas realizadas a los propios músicos, sus familiares, amigos y vecinos, los principales medios a través de los cuales obtuvimos la información que aquí se analiza.

In this article we propose an approach to the trajectories and practices of rural musicians in a municipality in Alto Uruguay, in a period that includes the last third of the 20th century and the first decade of the 21st century. Without neglecting the contextual aspects that have conditioned the development of these musicians, we try to describe the articulation between their musical and economic practices, resorting to the figure of the band owner, a term that refers to the leaders of the musical groups that play in dances and parties. The methodology used in this production is of a qualitative nature, being the open and semi-structured interviews carried out with the musicians, their relatives, friends and neighbors, the main means through which the information analyzed here was obtained.
