Se identificó a Alternaria alternata (Fr.) Keissler como causante del tizón del eucalipto.
A partir de ejemplares enfermos, de almáciga y repique, provenientes de viveros de Entre Ríos y Buenos Aires y aplicando las técnicas fitopatológicas de rutina, se aisló al agente patógeno y se estudiaron sus caracteres morfológicos y culturales.
El síntoma observado en las pruebas de patogenicidad: tizón de plántula, coincide con el del material original.
Es la primera cita de esta enfermedad para la Argentina. Blight of Eucalyptus globulus Labill. sub-sp. globulus caused by Alternaría alternata (Fr.) Kessler in Argentina.
Alternaria alternata (Fr.) Keissler was identified as a causal agent of the blue gum blight.
The pathogen was isolated from specimens collected at Entre Ríos and Buenos Aires and its surroundings by means of standard phytopathological methods and its cultural and morphological characteristics were determined.
Symptom observed in artificial inoculations was seedling blight. It was identical as the symptom observed in the original sample.This is the first report for Argentina.
