El trabajo analizó los resultados de 100 encuestas a titulares de establecimientos madereros localizados en los Departamentos Capital, Banda, Loreto, Copo, Alberdi y Robles, de la provincia de Santiago del Estero, con el objetivo de trazar un diagnóstico de su actual situación. Se realizaron entrevistas personales insitu; se analizó perfil del establecimiento, estatus tecnológico, especies maderables utilizadas, comercialización y resultados de la actividad. Se efectuó un análisis descriptivo univariante y se compararon los seis sitios para destacar características diferenciales entre los mismos. Los resultados mostraron que todas son microindustrias de larga trayectoria, con escaso personal permanente medianamente capacitado. La maquinaria es adecuada pero obsoleta, con baja tasa de utilización. Predominan altos costos, ventas estancadas y ganancias moderadas y las perspectivas son poco favorables para la actividad. The results of 100 surveys to owners of logging establishments were analyzed with the aim of drawing a diagnosis of their current situation. These are located in the Departments of Capital, Banda, Loreto, Copo, Alberdi and Robles, in the province of Santiago del Estero. On-site personal interviews were conducted. The profile of the establishment, technological status, used timber species, commercialization and results of the activity were analyzed. A univariate descriptive analysis was carried out and the six sites were compared to highlight differential characteristics among them. The results showed that they are all long-standing micro-industries, with few permanent, moderately trained personnel. The machinery is adequate but obsolete, with a low utilization rate. High costs, stagnant sales and moderate profits predominate and the prospects are not very favorable for the activity.
