Construir a partir de la catástrofe : del mito del progreso al ángel de la historia

Abstract

En este artículo se intenta pensar la catástrofe ambiental que enfrentamos hoy en día a partir del análisis crítico de la dupla conceptual naturaleza-cultura y de la noción de historia entendida como progreso. Para ello, se hace un recorrido por algunas de las causas y consecuencias del antropoceno (también llamado capitaloceno) y se profundiza en maneras diversas de ubicar lo humano en el mundo. Finalmente, se propone la figura benjaminiana del ángel de la historia como alternativa al mito prometeico del progreso.

Throughout this paper, the author considers the current environmental catastrophe by critically analyzing the conceptual pair nature-culture and the idea of history as progress. Specifically, the author explores some of the causes and consequences of the Anthropocene (also known as the Capitalocene) while analyzing how humanity is differently positioned in the world. Finally, the author suggest the Benjaminian figure of the angel of history as an alternative to the Promethean myth of progress.
