Abstract

Este artículo aborda el tema de la deserción, para elaborar un estudio que permita describir la Condición Académica de los alumnos. El objetivo general de este trabajo es evaluar el Rendimiento Académico de los alumnos de Química General de las carreras de Licenciatura y Profesorado en Ciencias Biológicas en el período 2010-2015 de la Facultad de Ciencias Naturales e Instituto Miguel Lillo de la Universidad Nacional de Tucumán. Se compararon las carreras de Licenciatura y Profesorado en relación a la condición académica realizando un análisis del porcentaje de alumnos que no cursaron, que quedaron libres, que abandonaron y que regularizaron. La cátedra de Química General introdujo modificaciones con el fin de lograr el éxito de los alumnos reflejado en la condición de regular. El presente trabajo busca ser un aporte para suministrar información para posteriores estudios o análisis relacionados con la deserción en el primer año.

This article addresses the topic of drop-out rates in Natural Science School at University and aims at developing a study to describe the academic status of students. The general objective of this study is to evaluate Students’ Academic Performance in General Chemistry in Bachelor ́s degree and Teacher Training in Biological Sciences during 2010-2015 in the Faculty of Natural Sciences and Miguel Lillo Institute at the National University of Tucuman. The purpose of this paper is to contribute to provide information for further studies or analysis related with dropout in the first year. Therefore, Bachelor and Teacher Training careers were compared, regarding the academic status, by analyzing the percentage of students who enroll but do not attend classes, students who fail (free students), students who drop the subject and students who regularize it. In consequence, The chair of General Chemistry introduced several changes during this period in order to increase the number of students who achieve the condition of regular.
