Mulheres e suas habilidades técnicas : um estudo entre grupos domésticos Potiguara da aldeia Jaraguá (Paraíba, Brasil)

Abstract

O presente artigo focaliza atividades domésticas voltadas a transações técnico-econômicas, desenvolvidas por mulheres Potiguara no interior de ambientes diversificados, sendo estes, partes constitutivas do território habitado por estas indígenas. Tais atividades são o resultado de escolhas e estratégias organizadas para atender às necessidades de grupos domésticos (grupos familiares de, pelo menos, três gerações, com cooperação entre seus membros e obrigações morais e de reciprocidade). Os processos técnicos que resultam dessas relações estão centrados nas experiências individuais e coletivas em manguezais, várzeas e resquícios de Mata Atlântica, bem como em contextos urbanos, permitindo o desenvolvimento de habilidades e a aquisição de saberes sobre técnicas e materiais bastante diversificados, a partir do aprimoramento de um conhecimento tradicional local. A compreensão de base é a relevância de explorar um aspecto como o desenvolvimento das habilidades técnicas em mulheres e sua importância para a reprodução do grupo doméstico, além de entender como são construídas as estratégias de obtenção e uso de recursos. Emergem, no decorrer do artigo, questões relacionadas às diversas posições sociais que as mulheres da aldeia Jaraguá assumem no seu cotidiano, atuando, assim, no âmbito social, econômico e técnico. Tais saberes e fazeres parecem ser uma chave importante para o entendimento das diferentes formas de se perceber e habitar o mundo, para essas mulheres.

This article aims to focus on domestic activities aimed at technical-economic transactions, developed by Potiguara women within diverse environments, which are constitutive parts of the territory inhabited by these indigenous people. Such activities are the result of choices and strategies organized to meet the needs of domestic groups (family groups of at least three generations, with cooperation between their members and moral and reciprocity obligations). The technical processes that result from these relationships are centered on individual and collective experiences in mangroves, floodplains and remnants of the Atlantic Forest, as well as in urban contexts, allowing the development of skills and the acquisition of knowledge about very diverse techniques and materials, from the improvement of local traditional knowledge. The basic understanding is the relevance of exploring an aspect such as the development of technical skills in women and their importance for the reproduction of the domestic group, in addition to understanding how strategies for obtaining and using resources are constructed. Throughout the article, questions emerge related to the different social positions that women from the Jaraguá village assume in their daily lives, thus acting in the social, economic and technical spheres. Such knowledge and practices seem to be an important key to understanding the different ways of perceiving and inhabiting the world, for these women.
