El “camino del peregrino” : Patrimonialización y turismo religioso en Villa Cura Brochero

Abstract

El “Camino del Peregrino” es una senda pedestre de 28km que conecta el camino de altas cumbres (ruta provincial 34) con el pueblo de Villa Cura Brochero en la región cordobesa de Traslasierra. El mismo sigue la traza que el cura Brochero (1840-1914) efectuaba en sus viajes a lomo de mula a fines del siglo XIX. Inaugurado por el estado provincial en 2016 cuando se dio la canonización de este sacerdote, su reacondicionamiento se enmarca en un plan de obras más amplio financiadas por la provincia de Córdoba para revalorizar y promocionar turísticamente distintos sitios que son considerados de valor patrimonial dentro del movimiento brocheriano. En este trabajo abordamos los procesos recientes de patrimonialización en torno a Brochero desplegados por organismos estatales y la promoción de este patrimonio como eje de desarrollo a través del turismo religioso focalizándonos en el caso del “Camino del Peregrino” y una de las peregrinaciones que en él tienen lugar. Los datos en los que nos basamos proceden del trabajo de campo antropológico que estamos llevando a cabo del movimiento brocheriano en la Argentina contemporánea.

The “Pilgrim’s Path” is a 28km pedestrian path that connects the high peaks path (provincial route 34) with the town of Villa Cura Brochero in Traslasierra (Córdoba). It follows the route that the priest Brochero (1840-1914) made on his trips on mule back at the end of the 19th century. Inaugurated by the provincial state in 2016 when the canonization of this priest took place, its reconditioning is part of a broader plan of works financed by the province of Córdoba to revalue and promote for tourism different sites that are considered of heritage value within the Brocherian movement. In this work we address the recent processes of patrimonialization around Brochero deployed by state organizations and the promotion of this heritage as an axis of development through religious tourism, focusing on the case of the “Pilgrim's Path” and one of the pilgrimages that it occur. The data on which we are based comes from the anthropological fieldwork that we are carrying out of the Brocherian movement in contemporary Argentina.
