Persistencia de la condenación en el imaginario quechua del Ande peruano

Abstract

Este fue un estudio antropológico sobre la persistencia de la condenación en el imaginario quechua del Ande peruano. Se buscó establecer las causas y los sujetos pasibles de condena, explicar las acciones del réprobo, determinar las creencias de su destino final e identificar las funciones culturales atribuidas. El referente empírico fue 29 relatos, todos ellos fueron codificados, traducidos del quechua al español y organizados por motivos para el análisis y la interpretación. Se determinó que la condenación ocurre por transgredir las reglas impuestas, por las relaciones sexuales ilícitas, la explotación y el abuso de los indígenas, las muertes violentas, los asuntos sociales inconclusos y la obra incorrecta en vida. Los condenados provocan terror y buscan salvarse devorando humanos; el final de unos es el infierno y de otros es la salvación; de este modo, esta tradición funciona como un dispositivo de control social y dominación espiritual del creyente.

This was an anthropological study on the persistence of damnation in the Quechua imaginary of the Peruvian Andes. It was sought to establish the causes and the subjects liable to conviction, explaining the reprobate’s actions, to determine the beliefs of his final destiny and to identify the attributed cultural functions. The empirical reference was 29 stories, all of them were codified, translated from Quechua to Spanish and organized by reasons for analysis and interpretation. It was determined that the damnation occurs for transgressing the imposed rules, for illicit sexual relations, exploitation and abuse of indigenous people, violent deaths, unfinished social issues and incorrect work in life. The damned cause terror and seek to save themselves by devouring humans; the end for some is hell and for others it is salvation; in this way, this tradition works as a device of social control and spiritual domination of the believer.
